A family in Odaima Nagar is facing a distressing ordeal due to repeated dog bite incidents involving a black dog in their locality. Kanaga, wife of Rajesh Kumar, and mother to Samuel (12) and Mariya (9), has been receiving medical treatment for herself since March 2025, for her son in June, and most recently, for her daughter Mariya on July 13.

On July 13, while playing near the Annai Veilankanni Church grounds, Mariya was bitten on her right forearm by the black dog, leaving deep wounds. She received immediate first aid at the Adyar Depot Government Health Centre and was later taken to Royapettah Government Hospital for further treatment.

Despite repeated complaints to the dog’s owners — a couple residing on the same street — and to the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) in June, no action has been taken. The pet continues to roam freely and aggressively, causing panic among residents.

Kanaga has now formally submitted a complaint to the Inspector of J5 Sastri Nagar Police Station, requesting immediate intervention to ensure the safety of the community.
