Residents Speak: Appreciations for immediate actions on rain damage
Share on WhatsappShare on Facebook

Despite the havoc and the multiple issues, residents appreciated the efforts taken by the government and their agencies. Here we share some of the appreciations:

Kudos to Chennai corporation Ward 183 (11 letter Natco colony 1, 2)

Due to heavy rain that lashed the city on Wednesday evening, Natco colony, Kottivakkam, was affected heavily, more specifically, the middle street wherein the OSR ground, demarcated for a park is located.

As there is no stormwater drain, or drainage, the residents of the colony have to suffer with the stagnated water along with the dirty water, which stagnates for months on the OSR land.

After collective representation by the residents at Zone 14 of Chennai Corporation, Mr. Viswanathan, the Councillor and Chairman visited the site and arranged to remove the stagnated water on a war footing.

The swift action taken by the chairman and all the workers deployed by the corporation deserve wholehearted appreciation by all.

Srinivasan, Natco Colony, Kottivakkam.

Kudos to Councillor Radhika (12 letter rain EBFOWA)

Due to the heavy rainfall in our city, our streets had significant water stagnation, leading to various inconveniences for the residents. Recognising the urgency of the situation, we reached out to GCC officials and the Councillor of our Ward on Dec.6.

Within a short span of hours, a team of GCC Zone 13 officials and the Councilor visited our place and managed to drain out the stagnated water in our streets.

Our sincere appreciation for the commendable work carried out by the GCC, CMWSSB and Councillor Radhika in addressing rainwater stagnation in 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th Cross Streets, Besant Nagar.

V.P.Giri Narain, EBFOWA.

Thank-you note for Councillor Kayalvizhi (13 Resident appreciation Kayal 1, 2)

Below are the extracts of the messages received:

  • Indeed commendable job by Kayalvizhi Madam. Needless to mention, we the residents of Cholapuram VJ and Signet Castle have never known or met the Councillor before, but we understand that we can call and talk to her anytime. Kudos to that first. Thank you once again for the wonderful and dedicated support.
  • LIC Colony and Radhakrishnan Nagar residents are thankful to Kayalvizhi Madam, Mr. Vijayakumar, SI Ranjith, SI Dharmalingam (both of them were wearing the hats of Metro Water officials!), Mr. Purushothaman and team, Mr. Ashok, and the team that pumped out the water, along with all others who are working for us from the backend, for all the support. Please continue with your good work.
  • A.N.Muthu Krishnan: Thanks, Councillor Madam, Corporation AE and CMWSSB AE for inspecting our area –  Kalakshetra Road – Kamaraj Salai Junction (in front of Sakkarai Amma Alayam). Apart from the Ward Committee Meeting please raise the issue in the forthcoming corporation session and also seek help from South Chennai MP for providing a permanent solution to the water logging and sewage outage Issue at this junction.
  • Residents of Marundeeswar Nagar and Thirruvanmiyur Kuppam thank Councillor Madam for your tireless efforts to remove water from this area. Kudos to all of you, Corporation officials and the EB department. Also thank you to all residents for your patience for four days without any facilities.
  • S.Rangarajan: I’m thrilled to witness such a responsive counselor Ms. Kayalvizhi. Whatever the issue, she’s available, escalating to the right people. I only wish GCC has such corporators in all wards. In many wards, the councillors have either vanished or are not reachable. It’s very encouraging to see such a responsible corporator in the middle where 90% of them are irresponsible. Great Ms. Kayalvizhi. Keep up the good work.
