A 15-day Robotics and Programming summer camp was held at the Chennai High School, Kotturpuram till June 20. Trainers Shahbaz Khan, Akash, and Janice from CodeBotix are excited about this energy-packed event with 44 students actively learning about robot making, electronics, sensors, motors, block coding, Arduino programming, and microcontrollers. This camp also included fun days where students explored virtual reality kits and learned about rocket propulsion using a simple juice container and hydrogen.
Shahbaz Ali Khan, Co-founder, CodeBotix said, “Students enjoyed the hands-on activities and discussions during the workshops and loved participating in energizers to keep their spirits high. An important component of the camp was the ‘team final projects’. Student teams base their ideas around the theme set by the trainers. The summer camp concluded with a project presentation visited by the Headmistress, teachers and parents on June 20.
This camp was conducted at the lowest price possible to cater to the audience of the school. Students may be from an economically weaker background but we never want that to stop them from learning about robotics. These kids are talented and filled with questions!”
Project:
The winning team made a border protection radar that will be useful for detecting the enemy entering the country’s border, the 2nd place team made a flame detection and mitigation system that can be installed in schools and other public places, the 3rd place team made a water irrigation system for plants and also for farming. All these projects were completely made by students, including the circuit connections, computer programming, and designing the model.
Other projects include an automatic medicine dispenser for the elderly and a rain detection module that automatically closes all windows and doors. The winning team received a complete Robotics Kit which consists of all electronic components required to build their robot, along with a soldering kit. The runner-up team received a cash prize.
This camp was conducted in partnership with the US Consulate General, Chennai. Schools wishing to conduct such camps can contact Shahbaz at [email protected] or 73582 78116.
