In a heartwarming gesture of support for education, S.Ramalingam, a resident of Sastri Nagar, felicitated nine meritorious girl students of Avvai Home Higher Secondary School, Besant Avenue, on June 5. The students, all toppers in the recent public exams, were each presented with a cheque of ₹2,000 and a laminated copy of their feature in Adyar Times (dt: May 18, 2025), which had originally brought their achievements to public attention.
The ceremony, organised in coordination with school staff and under the guidance of V.Susheela, Secretary of Avvai Home, was held in the school premises. Headmistress M.Sasikumari delivered the welcome address, and Aarthy proposed the vote of thanks.
During the event, Ramalingam invited each student on stage to share their ambitions. The room was filled with applause as Logalakshmi and Yuvasri shared their dreams of becoming doctors, Roshni voiced her goal to join the IPS, Kuralarasi expressed her aim to become a Chartered Accountant, and Vennila aspired to enter the field of Computer Science.
Ramalingam, dedicating this gesture to the birthdays of his son Balajee (June 7) and his late father-in-law, freedom fighter V. Radhakrishnan (June 13), pledged to continue this support annually. The teachers and students expressed heartfelt gratitude and promised to strive for even greater academic achievements in the years ahead.
“This event brought me immeasurable satisfaction,” said Ramalingam.
