Taneira, a TATA product, has expanded its footprint in Tamil Nadu with the launch of its fifth store in Chennai and eighth in the state, at Gandhi Nagar. A haven for saree connoisseurs of the city, the store spans an impressive 3300 sq. ft. The store was inaugurated in the presence of C.K.Venkatraman – MD of Titan Company Ltd., Ambuj Narayan – CEO of Taneira, V.M Lakshminarayanan and Vasu Krishnamoorthy.

Embodying the essence of Chennai’s cultural vibrancy, the new Taneira store in Adyar pays tribute to the city’s deep-rooted textile heritage, preserved and celebrated by master artisans over generations. The store boasts a dedicated Wedding Zone, offering an ideal destination for wedding-related purchases. Customers can explore a diverse range of exquisite sarees, including pure silk, Cotton Ikat, Kota Doria, revitalised Chanderis and Maheshwaris, Banarasis, Tussar, Jamdanis, Kanjivaram, South Silks, Sambalpuri, and Vegan collections – all thoughtfully brought together under one roof to cater to Chennai’s discerning clientele. 

Taneira provides Zari Certification, underscoring its commitment to genuine craftsmanship. It elegantly blends traditional and contemporary designs, offering a curated selection of handcrafted sarees, blouses, ready-to-wear outfits, and unstitched kurta sets, all made from pure and natural fabrics.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. CK Venkatraman, MD, Titan Company Ltd. said, “The opening of our new store in Chennai marks a key milestone in expanding our presence in this culturally rich region. As a key location in Taneira’s expansion across the southern region, our newest Chennai store in Adyar will showcase India’s textile legacy through a curated collection of handcrafted weaves. Our objective is to resonate with Chennai’s culturally astute clientele through a unique experience that harmonises timeless tradition with contemporary design.”

Associating with Taneira  V.M Lakshminarayanan said “The saree has been an integral part of our culture for centuries, symbolising grace and tradition. We are delighted to associate with Tata, a brand that shares our commitment to quality and heritage”

The opening of Taneira was marked by a vibrant celebration – a graceful Bharatanatyam performance by young children, followed by an invocation song for Lord Ganesha and a soulful rendition of a Rabindranath Tagore song.

A fashion walk-themed ‘Brides of India’ showcased diverse bridal attire from across the country, blending tradition and style. The event also honoured four women pioneers in varied fields for their outstanding contributions – V.Priya, Geeta Padmanabhan, Sara Cherian, Dr.Saranya Jaishankar
