Traffic changes on S.P.Road to ease congestion
Share on WhatsappShare on Facebook

In an effort to ease traffic congestion at the busy Gandhi Mandapam junction, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced new traffic modifications on Sardar Patel Road, effective from May 21, on a trial basis.

As part of the revised traffic plan, all vehicles, including MTC buses, coming from Raj Bhavan towards Madhya Kailash must now use the Gandhi Mandapam (IIT) flyover and will not be allowed on the surface road through the junction.

Vehicles entering the Gandhi Mandapam service road will have to take a compulsory left turn at the junction and will not be permitted to proceed straight towards Madhya Kailash.

To facilitate these changes, the CLRI bus stop has been relocated slightly ahead towards Adyar from its current position.

The GCTP has appealed to the general public for cooperation as these trial measures are implemented to assess and improve traffic flow along the key arterial stretch.
