Volunteer to support the distressed and suicidal

SNEHA is a 35 year old organisation offering unconditional emotional support for the distressed, depressed and/ or suicidal. Based in Chennai, the volunteer driven organisation provides its services through a crisis support hotline, chat services and email.

“According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report- each year over 800,000 people die by suicide across the world. While this may be a conservative figure and we may not know the exact number of precious lives lost to suicide, we at SNEHA know that the act of showing care and concern to someone who is in extreme psychological pain can make a significant difference between life and death. In the recent months, we have seen a steady increase in the phone calls from people seeking emotional help, and our volunteer strength needs a boost to handle the situation,” states a press release from SNEHA.
