Purattasi Concerts at Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple

Sri Alarmelu Mangai Thaayaar Sametha Arulmigu Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple, Kottur, will host Purattasi Sanikizhamai Utsavams from Sept. 20 with Garuda Seva. Carnatic concerts on all Saturdays from Sept. 20 to Oct. 11 at 5.45 pm and 7.15 pm; Perumal Vahana Purappadu at 6.45 PM each Saturday.

Classical Dance at Madras Kali Bari Temple

As part of Dasara Festival 2025, ‘Argham – A Sacred Offering’ will feature Odissi and Kathakali by Sanhita Basu Ghose and Sarita Varma. On Sept.25 at 7 pm. At Madras Kali Bari Temple, West Mambalam.

Navratri Special at Kidzee

Kidzee Thiruvanmiyur will host Navaratri Special Activities from Sept. 22–27 for children aged 2–8 years. Activities: Cookie baking, jewellery making, yoga, tie & dye, art & craft, and more. Kalakshetra to Host 16th Kala Mela Kathakali Festival

Kalakshetra Foundation will present the 16th Kala Mela Kathakali Festival, themed Bhava Bhavanam – Rasa Rajasam. At Bharata Kalakshetra Auditorium, Thiruvanmiyur.

Onam Celebration by ANSS

Adayar Nair Seva Society (ANSS) will celebrate Onam on Sept. 21 at 5.30 pm at the Youth Hostel, Indira Nagar.  Chief Guest: N. Medical Camp

Durgabai Deshmukh General Hospital and Research Centre, R.A. Puram, will host a medical camp offering consultations across all specialities, including a free Master Health Check-up. On Sept. 20, 8.30 am to 1 pm.

Nationwide Health Campaign Launched for Women and Families

A nationwide health campaign, ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan,’ has been launched to promote the health of women and children. The initiative, a joint effort by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the ESIC, runs till Oct.2, 2025. The campaign will offer a range of services at ESIC’s 160 hospitals, 1,603 dispensaries, and 107 offices. These include free check-ups, ante-natal care, immunizations, and health awareness sessions on topics like nutrition and physical fitness. The program also aims to support TB eradication efforts and will host 50 blood donation camps across the country.

Chennai Gears Up for the Planet’s Largest Coastal Cleanup

CommuniTREE will organise a mega coastal cleanup across Chennai’s coastline from Kasimedu to Kovalam. On Sept. 20, 6 am to 9 am. For group registrations: 99402 21404.

E.F.I. and GCC Launch ‘BlueCleanMarina’

The Environmentalist Foundation of India (E.F.I.) with GCC will launch #BlueCleanMarina on International Coastal Cleanup Day. On Sept. 20 & 21, 7 am to 9 am. At Marina Beach, Ashtalakshmi Beach, Kovalam Beach, Akkarai Beach.

Jumble Sale and Waste Collection Drive

Mangayarkarasi Magalir Mandram, in collaboration with ROKA and Wasted 360, will host a jumble sale and waste collection drive. Jumble sale of clothes, home utilities, and accessories. Waste management and composting session by ROKA also scheduled. Waste items collected: clothes, utilities, and recyclable waste like plastics, e-waste, X-rays, and books. Sathiyavani Muthu Ammaiyar Memorial Tailoring Scheme

Karadi Tales – Storytelling Contest for Grandparents

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
