ADF supports underprivileged students with scholarships

As part of its ongoing community upliftment initiatives, the Appayya Dikshitha Foundation (ADF), Kottivakkam, has once again extended its support to deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds for the academic year 2025–2026. This year, ADF has covered school, college, and hostel fees through NEFT transfers directly to the respective educational institutions.

  • R. Thaswin, Class 3 student of Sri Sankara Matriculation School, Thiruvalluvar Nagar (son of Mr. Rajesh, a flower vendor);
  • L.P. Srimathi, First-year B.Com student at Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shashun Jain College for Women, Chennai (daughter of Mr. Lakshmanan, a van driver);
  • R. Monisha, Class 12 student of St. Mary’s Matriculation School, Chengalpattu (daughter of Ramesh, a farmer);
  • K. Karunya, Class 11 student of Theresa Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Poompuhar, Nagapattinam District (daughter of a cook).

In a brief but meaningful ceremony organised by ADF, Rajan Aiyer, philanthropist and Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce, Tamil Nadu, personally handed over gift hampers comprising new dress materials, stationery kits, and other essentials to the students.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
