In a significant step toward women’s empowerment, Rotary District 3234, on Aug.23, distributed 100 specially designed pink autos to women from underserved backgrounds. The ceremony, held at the Chennai Trade Centre, was a cornerstone event of the Lead 25 – Aim High Rotary India Leadership Conclave.

The Pink Auto Project aims to provide women with a means of earning a stable livelihood and achieving economic independence. Each auto represents not just a vehicle, but a path to dignity, self-reliance, and hope for entire families.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo, who called the initiative “a beacon of Rotary’s global commitment.”

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin praised the project, stating that Rotary “continues to be a true partner in progress.” He highlighted the program’s alignment with the state’s vision for women-led development. School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi also attended, commending Rotary’s ongoing community and education initiatives, including its commitment to adopting 1,000 schools.

District Governor Vinod Saraogi emphasised the project’s broader impact, saying, “When we invest in women, we invest in the future of our society.”

The initiative was spearheaded by Rtn. Siva Ilangovan, Chairman of the Pink Auto Project. The event featured a ceremonial handover of keys and emotional testimonials from the beneficiaries. The pink autos, now a symbol of empowerment, will be a visible part of Chennai’s streets, driven by women who are building a better future for themselves and their children.
