YMIA Valedictory: Celebrating Annie Besant’s 179th Anniversary

The YMIA (Young Men’s Indian Association) concluded its YMIA Week 2025 celebrations with a vibrant valedictory function on Oct.5. Held at the Dr. Annie Besant Centenary Hall, the event also commemorated the 179th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Annie Besant (Oct.1).

The cultural highlight of the evening was a series of captivating music and dance performances presented by students of Kalaimamani Shobana Ramesh troupe.

The function was presided over by chief guest M.S.Chandramohan (President of Sennaiyillulla Virudhunagar Nadars’ Abhivirudhi Dharma Fund) and guest of honour Bharatanatyam Exponent Vaidegi Harish. They distributed prizes and certificates to the winners of the various competitions held throughout YMIA Week.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
