NIEPMD celebrates World Occupational Therapy Day

NIEPMD celebrated the World Occupational Therapy Day on October 27, 2023 with a 3-day program held on October 18, 19, and 27. The theme for this year is ‘Unity through community’. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Nachiketa Rout, Director, and Dr. A. Amarnath, Deputy Registrar (Offg).

The activities on October 18 included a ramp walk, flash mob, and indoor/outdoor sports for people with disabilities, and their parents. On October 19, various activities were organised for HRD students, including indoor games, outdoor sports, a 2-minute challenge, mehendi competition, online quiz and photography competition. Mr.Ramachandran, Technocrat Consultancy, Dubai, also organised a webinar on career opportunities for Occupational Therapy professionals in western countries.

During the valedictory function on October 27, Dr.B.S.Santhosh Kanna, Head of the Department of Therapeutics, and Kurinji Selvan, Head of the unit released a book, ‘Understanding My Child with Autism Spectrum Disorder – Answers to Commonly Asked Questions for Parents’, providing essential information to parents dealing with autism-related challenges.
