Inner Wheel Club of Thiruvanmiyur gets new office bearers

The Inner Wheel Club of Thiruvanmiyur of District 323 held the club installation of the new office bearers for the year 2024-2025 at the Gandhi Nagar Club, Adyar.

The event was chaired by District Chairman Fathima Nasira; the Past District Chairpersons presided over the meeting. The meeting started with the past president Ganga sharing the highlights and important projects of the year, followed by reports by other Executive Committee members of 2023-2024.

The office bearers of the year 2024-2025 were badged by Fathima Naseera.

The club also launched two projects that brought a remarkable change in the lives of two students:

  • Project ‘Struggle Strengthens’ empowers the underprivileged to make their mark. Mohanapriya is a college student raised by her single mother. She was the first graduate in her family. Life struck hard when she lost her mother in a fire accident. However, she decided to continue her academics. The club donated Rs. 10,000 towards her education helping her fulfil her potential.
  • Project ‘What makes you different is what makes you beautiful’ empowers special children. Iyyappan, a 14-year-old intellectually disabled student is the son of a domestic worker. The club donated Rs. 14,400 towards his school education.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
