The Thursday Ladies Club held Sports Day for mentally challenged children on Sep.19 at Youth Hostel, Indira Nagar. Children from ages 7 to 14 participated.

Fifty lively and enthusiastic students from five institutions arrived, accompanied by their teachers and caregivers. With beaming smiles and shining eyes, they participated in the games, which required minimal skill levels.

The games included Stringing the Beads, Passing the Parcel and Picking Pebbles from coloured water for the Juniors, Traversing Cones, Frog Race and Gathering Potatoes for the Seniors.

“The children were obviously thrilled as they played the games and laughed as they watched others participating in their races. It was such a heart-warming sight to see their bright, smiling faces holding their trophies and prizes,” said the club. The Lucky Dip added to their sense of excitement.

The participating schools were Sri Arunodayam (Kolathur), Mithra Rehabilitation Centre (Anna Nagar), Aram Home For Special Children (Surapet), Jayam Special School (Padi) and Andhra Mahila Sabha (RA Puram).

All the children were given participation gifts. Winners received crowns, medals and special prizes. Each institution was also given a monetary donation from the Thursday Ladies Charitable Trust.
