More than 150 people benefited from a free health check-up camp organised on Oct.5 by the Besant Nagar branch of Ratnakar Bank Limited (RBL) in partnership with Kalakshetra Colony Welfare Association (KCWA).

The camp, which was the bank’s CSR initiative, was held at Rani Meyyammai Corporation Ground, Rukmani Road. The initiative demonstrated the impact of constructive collaboration between a bank serving the community and a residents’ welfare association.

Led by Branch Manager Archana Ganesan and her team, the initiative aimed to address the healthcare needs of the essential workers in the community – security guards, maids, cooks, carpenters, conservancy workers, vendors, and drivers. The camp provided complete blood tests, eye checkups and free spectacles in consultation with a doctor.

Launching the event, Ms. Ganesan expressed her appreciation for the support and commitment of members, and its President Mr. Balamurali Krishnamoorthy, KCWA Treasurer K V Srinivasan and General Secretary Usha Padmesh. KCWA provided logistical support and helped with outreach to people working in the area. Security guard Sanjay Kumar, cook Rita, carpenter Ilayaraja and office worker Murugesan expressed satisfaction with their treatment: they all received an eye examination and free spectacles.

RBL sent all participants their medical reports by text to their phones. Hard copies of the reports were available in the branch. RBL said the effort reflects its commitment to supporting local communities and making healthcare accessible to all. The strong response showed that the initiative met a real need in the community.
