Avvai Home, an institution dedicated to uplifting the underprivileged through education, celebrated its Founder’s Day on July 30, coinciding with the 139th birth anniversary of Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy. The annual event honours the legacy of the social reformer, who was a pivotal figure in the emancipation of Indian women.
The celebration was presided over by Justice Prabha Sridevan (Retd), Chairperson of the Intellectual Property Appellate Board, who delivered an inspiring address and shared her long-standing emotional connection with the institution.
The event featured speeches by students in both Tamil and English, highlighting Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy’s determination in promoting women’s empowerment and Avvai Home’s role in fulfilling that vision. The speeches also showcased the institution’s progress, including the implementation of smart classrooms and the students’ diverse achievements in academics, sports, and cultural activities.
The day concluded with a vibrant cultural program that included skits, traditional Parai drumming, and a miming performance. The function saw enthusiastic participation from the members of the Governing Body, School Committee, teachers, parents, and alumni.
