Dr. Jamuna Krishnaraj, a resident of Adyar, was awarded the Best Translator prize for her Hindi translation of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati’s Tamil poems, titled Bharati ki Kavyamala.

The award was presented during the celebration of Sri Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetty’s 86th Birthday, hosted by the Nalli Thisai Ettum magazine on November 9 at Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai.

Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetty honoured Dr. Krishnaraj with a memento, a trophy, an angavastram, and a cheque for ₹20,000. The jury noted that her translation “well reflected the spirit of valour of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati.”

Translators of Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetty’s original Tamil writings into various languages were also recognised at the event.
