Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has partnered with Uber to allow passengers to book metro tickets directly through the Uber app. This new service, enabled via the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), lets users plan their journeys, purchase QR-based tickets, and access real-time transit information all in one place.
The new feature was launched on Aug.7, by CMRL Managing Director M.A. Siddique, IAS, at the Nandanam Metro station. Officials from CMRL, Uber, and ONDC were present at the event to mark the collaboration.
To encourage riders to use the new service, Uber is offering a 50% discount on Chennai Metro tickets purchased through its app for the entire month of August 2025. This promotion is exclusive to the Uber app and does not apply to other CMRL ticketing platforms.
Payments for these tickets will be processed exclusively through UPI, supporting CMRL’s commitment to digital payments. The new integration adds to CMRL’s existing digital discounts, which include a 20% discount on digital store value passes and online QR tickets purchased through the CMRL mobile app.
