The Election Commission of India (ECI) has unveiled 18 new initiatives to improve voter experience, electoral roll accuracy, and overall election management. Key measures include reducing the maximum voters per polling station to 1,200 to minimise crowding and setting up additional booths in high-rise buildings and residential colonies. Voter Information Slips will now feature larger fonts for easier identification.

To enhance accuracy, the ECI will obtain electronic death registration data from the Registrar General of India. Over 4,700 All-Party meetings involving more than 28,000 political representatives have been held, alongside capacity-building programs for Booth Level Agents in states like Tamil Nadu and Bihar.

A major highlight is the introduction of ECINET, a unified digital dashboard consolidating 40+ applications for seamless stakeholder access. A new mechanism ensures each voter receives a unique EPIC number, eliminating duplicates.

Customised training for 28 stakeholder groups and identity cards for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are being implemented. Over 3,000 Booth Level Supervisors have already been trained, with more to follow.

The ECI has introduced biometric attendance and e-Office systems to improve internal efficiency. These reforms reflect the ECI’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and tech-driven elections in India.
