Following the demonstration, in recognition of International Women’s Day, Manram President Archana Ramasundaram, IPS, honoured Jamuna Rani with a bouquet and a special gift, appreciating the team’s efforts in spreading fire safety awareness.

Balwadi revived!

Shastri Nagar has successfully revived its Balwadi for underprivileged children, which had remained closed since the COVID-19 pandemic. The newly renovated and well-furnished Balwadi has been dedicated to the memory of the late Sarojani Subramaniam, a founding member and former president of the Manram.

The centre was inaugurated by chief guest Dr. Padma Venkataraman, President of WIA, and guest of honour Parvatham Natarajan. The family of Sarojani Subramaniam – son S.Ramasundaram, IAS (Retd.), daughter Sarubala Thondaiman (former Mayor of Trichy) and daughter-in-law Barathi Bhaskar, fondly recalled her passion for community service and her invaluable contributions to the Manram, especially the Balwadi. J.P.Janakan, Managing Editor of Adyar Times, also shared memories of his mother’s close friendship with the late president and their shared dedication to the Manram.

Guests were delighted to see children happily playing with toys and enjoying nutritious food in the beautifully upgraded space, complete with child-friendly furniture, toys, and educational charts. The initiative received widespread appreciation for its thoughtful tribute and commitment to early childhood education.
