The Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is launching a free, nine-day residential training program for college faculty in STEM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and Biotechnology. Organised under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP) and in partnership with BodhBridge Education, this initiative is open to faculty teaching undergraduate and postgraduate science courses across India.
According to Prof. Edamana Prasad, Chairman of the IIT Madras TLC, the program is designed to “elevate teaching effectiveness, enrich student learning experiences and cultivate an engaged and inspired academic environment.” Its objectives align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on interdisciplinary approaches, skill development, and experiential learning.
The Capacity Building Program will cover fundamental and advanced topics, offering practical lab sessions, innovative teaching methodologies, and exposure to frontier research. The training aims to refresh pedagogical skills and help faculty develop modern, inquiry-based curricula.
The schedule for the training is as follows:
- Biotechnology: August 22–30, 2025
- Chemistry: October 7–17, 2025
- Physics Batch 1: November 11–19, 2025
- Physics Batch 2: November 20–28, 2025
- Mathematics: December 15–24, 2025
Each batch will accommodate 50 participants, and certification will be provided under the MMTTP framework. Interested faculty can apply through the provided registration link: https://fundaspring.com/products/capacity-building-stem-faculty-iit-madras-malaviya-mission.
