IIT Madras has introduced five new online courses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) through the SWAYAM Plus platform, aimed at democratising access to AI education. These courses, which range from 25 to 45 hours in duration, are being offered free of cost and are open to students, faculty members, and working professionals from all academic backgrounds.
In line to make AI accessible to all, no prior knowledge of AI or coding is required to enrol. The courses are designed to be hands-on and interdisciplinary, with real-world datasets and case study-based learning. Interested individuals can register at SWAYAM Plus by May 12.
The five courses include:
- AI in Physics: Focuses on using machine learning and neural networks to solve real-world physics problems.
- AI in Chemistry: Covers AI applications in molecular predictions and chemical modelling using Python.
- AI in Accounting: Combines accounting principles with AI for automation and data analysis.
- Cricket Analytics with AI: Teaches data science concepts and visualisation through real-life cricket data.
- AI/ML using Python: A foundational course covering Python programming, statistics, optimisation, and AI fundamentals.
Highlighting the broader vision behind the initiative, Prof. R. Sarathi, Dean (Planning) and SWAYAM Plus Coordinator at IIT Madras, noted that the courses are aligned with the National Credit Framework (NCrF) and can be adopted by universities for credit as part of their skill development initiatives.
Eligible participants include undergraduate and postgraduate students from any discipline, as well as faculty from higher education institutions. Certification is available for a nominal fee. For further details, queries can be directed to [email protected].
