The literary forum Penakkal Peravai, Oct.28, hosted an interface with renowned Crime Stories Novelist Rajesh Kumar at the Anna Centenary Library Building in Kotturpuram, combining literary appreciation with civic recognition. The event was marked by an awards ceremony where several dedicated social activists were honoured for their decades of service.
- Dr. Sai Sankara Panchapakesan: Recognised for orchestrating over two lakh marriages in 35 years through his matrimonial services (Chennai Sai Sankara and Sai Muruga), including dedicated free services for the differently abled (Chennai Sai Thunai Matrimonials). He was also lauded for his extensive philanthropic work.
- Aavin Dr. Lion Gopinath: Honoured for 30 years of commitment as State General Secretary of the Udavikkaram Association, championing the Welfare of the Differently Abled despite his own polio affliction.
Other activists recognised included Lena Tamilvanan, Udhayam Ram (Secretary, Uratha Sindanai), and Ambulance Santhakumar.
The forum also extended financial help to several deserving individuals. Attendees, including Auditor Kalaimamani J. Balasubramanian, Kalaimamani Makkal Kural Ramji, Malarvanam Ramki, and Novelist Devi Bala, widely appreciated the interaction with Novelist Rajesh Kumar.
