Neighbourhood Philanthropists honoured

Dr Chandra Prasad of Dr Dathu Rao Memorial Charitable Trust, Neelankarai, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award by Puthia Vanigam Publications, on Jan.7. The staff of Pathway Center for Rehabilitation and Education of Intellectual Disabled, Thiruvanmiyur – Indira Achutan and Jeyaseeli Abraham were also awarded the Achievement Award 2024, at the event.

The awards were part of the publication’s celebration of its 29th anniversary. Justice S.Baskaran – Chairperson of the State Human Rights Commission, was the chief guest at the event. Special guests included: Judge A.Mohamed Jiyaputheen – Former District and Sessions Judge, Haji H.Ahmed Rumaizudeen Faizee – managing Partner of Buhari Restaurant, Kalaimamani PMJF.Ln. Dr G.Manilal – President of World Peace and Friendship Council, Kalaimamani Isaiarasu Dr Alahaj Iraianban Kudhus – Vice-President of Tamilnadu Minorities Welfare Commission.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
