Olcott Memorial Higher Secondary School, Besant Nagar, held its Annual Day celebrations on July 4, themed around environmental awareness. The evening featured vibrant performances in dance, drama, and music by students across grades, with nature-inspired songs like ‘Manvaasanani’ and ‘Manvalamkaapom’, and a folk presentation titled ‘PanchaBoodhas’ exploring the five elements.
Chief guest V. S. Sriram, Independent Consultant and volunteer at Asha for Education, urged students to utilise the school’s resources effectively. School Director Sasikala Sriram highlighted the year’s focus on nature. Asha for Education’s ‘Purna Vidhya Project’ now supports computer science classes thrice a week for Grades 1–8.
The school acknowledged its partnerships with several NGOs and organisations, including Bhumi, Pitchandikulam Forest, Deepam, Thenai, and Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra, all contributing to holistic education.
A key moment was the felicitation of three teachers— Padma, Guna Sundari, and Narmadha—for 25 years of service. Two students were also honoured for perfect attendance. The seniors staged Tamil and English plays, followed by a fusion dance.
