Hare Krishna Movement, Thiruvanmiyur, celebrated Bhogi and Pongal festivals on Jan.14 and 15. Various activities were conducted for devotees to participate on both days.

On Jan.14, for the Bhogi festival, 150 people participated. The deities of Sri Sri Krishna Balarama were taken around in a pallaki procession with the accompaniment of Nama Sankirtanam. Residents of Valmiki Nagar came out and offered fruits and flowers. They wrote down one bad habit they wanted to give up and burned it in the bonfire. This was followed by spiritual games and ended with dinner prasadam.

Participants also made colourful Rangoli as part of the celebrations. The temple was decorated in the theme of Pongal using flowers, pots and sugarcane. This was followed by an inspirational talk by His Grace Suvyakta Narasimha Dasa, President, Hare Krishna Movement, Chennai. Lunch prasadam was served to all in the end.
