In a remarkable display of community service and support for maternal healthcare, 45 Rotary Clubs across Chennai came together for the Rotary Action for Women (RAW 2) maternity kits distribution initiative. The clubs surpassed their target by distributing 1,025 maternity kits in government hospitals during World Breastfeeding Week (Aug.1 -7).
The distribution took place across multiple leading government maternity hospitals in Chennai, culminating at Adyar Urban Community Health centre (UCHC), in the presence of Ward Councillors Subashini Durai (Ward 173) and M.Radhika (Ward 174), ZMO Dr. Srilakshmi, and First Lady of RID 3234, Rtn. Usha Saraogi.
To ensure maximum impact during this globally recognised week, Dr. Deepa delivered a special talk promoting breastfeeding awareness and maternal health.
This impactful initiative brought together more than 45 Rotary Clubs, each contributing significantly by donating 1,025 kits worth over Rs.20 lakhs, along with medical equipment worth Rs.50,000 to each hospital.
