The Royal Madras Yacht Club located inside the Chennai Port Authority, have been popularising this eco-friendly sport over the last hundred years. The club is affiliated to the apex body Yachting Association of India and is their Accredited Training Centre offering certificate courses on dinghy boats, motor boats and keel boats. The Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard support the Club by offering logistics and making the sport safer.

He is an accomplished sailor with vast sailing experience. Camps for students and adults are being conducted regularly for national and international events.

The Royal Madras Yacht Club has been aggressively promoting sailing. Recently 3 teams were invited to participate in the World championship 2023 in Spain on the J/80 class of boats. The teams did well and came back with some rich experience and tie ups with Spanish clubs for honing their skill. With affiliations to worldwide sailing clubs, there is a huge potential for our sailors to compete at international standards.

Shreya, our little sailor will be participating in the Asian & Oceanic Championships at Abu Dhabi, October 29th to 5th November.

Capt. Vivek Shanbhag can be contacted at 98410 30880 or [email protected].
