Santha Sundar, a long-time resident of Padmanabha Nagar, Adyar, has been excelling in Masters Athletics for over 15 years. Competing in the 55+ category, she has achieved success in events such as the 5K fast walk, 400m sprint, Hammer Throw, and Shot Put, earning numerous medals at state, national, and international levels.

Santha recently received a Certificate of Honour from the Chennai District Masters Athletic Association for her consistent achievements. Notably, she represented India at the 2019 Asian Games Masters Athletic Competition in Malaysia and the 2022 World Masters Athletic Competition in Finland.

At the recent District Masters Athletic Competition, she secured Silver medals in the 5K Race Walk and 400m sprint, earning her a spot in the State Meet in Madurai this coming January. 

Other winners at the Meet, from our neighbourhood include:

Adyar resident K.Saratha, competed in the 40+ category and won a Gold in Long Jump and Silver in 100 mts and 800 mts.

Thiruvanmiyur resident V.S.Kalyanasundari competed in the 70+ category and won 1st place in 200 mtrs long jump and 2nd place in 100 mtrs race.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
