The Srinivasapuram Residents Welfare Association (SRWA) came together to honour one of their most beloved community members — Murthy, the postman who has served the colony with dedication, simplicity, and honesty for several years. As Murthy retired at the end of May, residents ensured his farewell was as memorable as his service.
In a warm and emotional gathering, SRWA President T. Arunachalam, along with Treasurer Rajamani and Suraj Narayan, felicitated Murthy for his outstanding commitment. Also present were the owner of Lakshmi Sagar Hotel, Shrikant, and a Journalist Colony resident, Murali. Notably, this is the first retirement function at Thiruvanmiyur Post Office attended by public members, a gesture that was deeply appreciated by postal staff and organisers alike.
Murthy was honoured with a shawl, a gift cover from Rajamani, and a Fast Track watch presented by Suraj. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the residents for their warmth, affection, and continued support over the years. His family, also present at the occasion, was touched by the community’s gesture.
The event highlighted the value of acknowledging everyday heroes whose quiet, consistent service makes a lasting impact. “Honouring such a humble and dignified man gave me great joy and satisfaction,” said Mr. Arunachalam, reflecting the sentiments of the entire community.
