The Besant Nagar Unit of the Thamizhnadu Brahmin Association (THAMBRAS) organised a special ‘Vilakku Pooja’ ceremony on Aug.12 at Sekaran Kalyana Mandapam, Thiruvanmiyur, with the aim of promoting global welfare. Over 110 ‘Suhasinis’ (married women) participated in the event, which was presided over by the Unit President, V. Suryanarayanan.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Unit Secretary R. Raman. Pammal Ramakrishnan, State Coordinator for THAMBRAS, emphasised the importance of unity among people. This sentiment was echoed by Vishwakumar, a senior member and patron, who reiterated the association’s commitment to helping the poor and economically weaker sections of society.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mala Shankar, the Women’s Wing Secretary. Eminent Vedic scholars, Sivaramakrishnan and S. Ramachandran, as well as the owner of Sekaran Kalyana Mandapam, Jayabalan, graced the occasion.
