In a spirited celebration of India’s Independence Day, the TMI @ East Coast Toastmasters Club joined hands with the Journalists Colony Welfare Association to host a special demonstration meeting at the Journalists Colony park on Aug.1. The event, themed ‘Voices of Freedom’, introduced the benefits of the Toastmasters program (known for honing communication and leadership skills), to the community.
Post an educational speech by Toastmaster Sundaramam, who elaborated on how Toastmasters helps in developing leadership qualities, a series of prepared speeches from TM Serene T club members showcased the diverse talents and skills. A Table Topics contest done by TM Sandhya, open to guests, brought out the best in impromptu speaking. The winners were honoured during the colony’s Independence Day celebrations. Guest Ramesh emerged as the Best Table Topic Speaker and a special mention for Pa.Thaamarai’s Table Topic participation. TM Melitta was recognised as the Best TAG Role Player; DTM Vidhya with an Enthusiastic Award; TM Thilak Antony received the Outstanding Member and Best Role Player Award.
