Anti-Tobacco Day or World’s No Tobacco Day is observed every year worldwide on May 31, in order to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco.
In this regard, an awareness campaign was organised by TTK Hospital at Srinivasapuram, Foreshore Estate. The occasion was attended by nearly 40 men and women. Also, to draw attention to the fact that ‘We need food rather than tobacco’, which is the theme for the year, a fun educational activity took place with inmates and their families at TTK Hospital.
There will be another programme for trans women, which will be held in Kannagi Nagar on June 4. TTK also aims to prevent children from tobacco use since it is a gateway drug. After the school reopens, the hospital also plans to carry out more prevention programmes. Furthermore, to help tobacco users maintain health and wellbeing, they offer a free consultation service. Any educational institutions / industries can reach them for prevention programmes via [email protected] or 94450 23737.
