Vana Vani School celebrates diamond jubilee

Vana Vani Matriculation Higher Secondary School, celebrated its diamond Jubilee on July 8 with great enthusiasm and pride. The event marked 60 glorious years of the school’s commitment in providing quality education and shaping the lives of countless students. 

The celebration was graced by the presence of Prathap Haridoss, the Dean of Academic Course, IIT Madras. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the illumination of knowledge and wisdom. It was followed by a soulful prayer song, which set a serene and auspicious atmosphere for the event.

Sathish Kumar, the Principal of Vana Vani, delivered a warm welcome address, expressing his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the school’s success and growth. The invocation dance, a mesmerising performance showcasing the cultural heritage of the school, captivated the audience.

A video titled ‘Reminiscence’ was presented, taking the attendees on a nostalgic journey through the school’s history. It highlighted the achievements and milestones that Vana Vani has accomplished over the past six decades, leaving everyone deeply moved and inspired. 

One of the significant moments of the event was the unveiling of the Diamond Jubilee plaque by Professor Prathap Haridoss. School Chairman, Professor S.P.Dhanavel, Secretary Raman Kumar and former Principal Nirmala Krishnaswammy joined him on the dais. 

All the dignitaries including the retired principals: Nirmala Krishnaswamy, Shyamala Prabhu, Kaveri Padmanabhan, Vijayalakshmi Srivatsan, educationist of repute and members of alumni association were felicitated on this occasion. Vana Vani School magazine ‘Reflection 2022-23’was officially released by Professor Haridoss. 

The treasurer of Vana Vani Alumni Association, Ashok,  addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts with us. Raman Kumar, the Secretary of Vana Vani, delivered a thoughtful address, highlighting the school’s vision and future goals. He expressed gratitude to the staff, students, and parents for their continuous support and dedication.

Nirmala Krishnaswamy shared her experiences and memories of leading the institution, reminiscing about the transformative impact the school has had on generations of students.

The Diamond Jubilee song, specially composed for the occasion, was performed, evoking a sense of pride and unity among the attendees. Addressing the audience, Prof.S.P.Dhanavel emphasised the institution’s commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering innovation. He highlighted the importance of adapting to the changing educational landscape and preparing students for the challenges of the future.

Professor Prathap Haridoss elaborated on the academic excellence maintained by Vana Vani and its efforts to provide holistic development to its students. He stressed the need for a well-rounded education that focuses on both academic and extracurricular activities.

The event concluded with the felicitation of the donors, the Managers of The City Union Bank and The Canara Bank whose contributions played a vital role in the school’s growth and development. Princy Tom, the Vice Principal of Vana Vani, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone involved in making the Diamond Jubilee celebrations a grand success.

As a symbol of unity and pride, the school song was sung by all present, instilling a sense of belonging. The celebrations concluded on a patriotic note with the rendition of the National Anthem.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
