To enhance the lives of the visually impaired, a revolutionary technological device called Smart Vision Glasses, developed jointly by Bengaluru-based SHG Technologies and Vision-Aid organisation, was distributed at an event held at VHS Hospital, Taramani, on June 10.

These state-of-the-art glasses were provided to the visually impaired librarians and bookbinders of the Anna Centenary Library’s Braille Division through the Rotary Club of Madras. The Principal Librarian and Information Officer of Anna Centenary Library handed over these devices to the Braille division librarians for use by the beneficiaries and bookbinders of the Braille division.
These artificial intelligence (AI) powered smart vision glasses offer various aids to the visually impaired, including recognising their surroundings, identifying objects and people, reading texts, and providing navigation assistance. These glasses enable users to function independently and simplify their daily activities.
