WWF-India hosted a plogathon at Elliot’s Beach, where 55 passionate volunteers gathered early in the morning to collect plastic waste. Over three hours, the collective effort totaled 165 volunteer hours, resulting in the removal of 150 kg of plastic waste.

Supported by GCC and Greater Chennai Police, the event began with a warm-up session led by Chennai Ploggers, educating participants on waste segregation. WWF-India representatives highlighted the #BeWaterWise campaign and encouraged participants to take the Water Pledge for mindful water usage.

WaterWise Workshop at The Learning Centre, Quest

As a prelude to Earth Hour, the WaterWise Workshop at The Learning Centre – Quest (Besant Nagar) engaged 35 participants and 15 children on Mar.21. The event featured Sekar Raghavan, Director of the Rain Centre, Gandhi Nagar, who emphasised the importance of rainwater harvesting and sustainable water management. His session covered practical tips on setting up rainwater harvesting systems and highlighted the need to protect water bodies from pollution.

The workshop also included a captivating storytelling session by Renu Narayan, founder of KathaVriksh, who used creative narratives like ‘Boondh – Water Droplet’ to illustrate the water cycle and eco-restoration. Engaging music and art activities encouraged participants to connect with nature as they personified elements such as trees, rivers, and birds. The event concluded with a lively song and dance performance, leaving participants inspired to conserve water and promote sustainability.
