Good news for motorists in Chennai: You can now park for free in designated Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) parking areas! As the contracts for vehicle parking fee collection expired on July 20, the public won’t be charged for parking until new agreements are finalized.

Previously managed by the Traffic Warden Organisation of Tamil Nadu, the parking fee collection system is currently undergoing a re-contracting process by the GCC. While these new contractual measures are being put into place, residents and visitors can enjoy complimentary parking across GCC-managed spots.
