Avvai Home Orphanage for Girls, a renowned charitable organisation based in Adyar, has collaborated with Grass Root Foundation to implement a Montessori-based methodology for children aged 3 to 6 years at Avvai Home Primary School starting from the academic year 2023-24.
Avvai Home and Orphanage was established in 1931 by Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy; Avvai Home Primary school was established by Mandakini Krishnamurthi in 1950. Over the years, it has evolved into its current form as a pre-primary and primary school.
This programme with NGO Grass Root Foundation is funded by CorroHealth as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. CorroHealth is a leading provider of clinically led healthcare analytics and technology-driven solutions dedicated to positively impacting the financial performance of hospitals and health systems.
The Montessori method of education aims to ignite curiosity, foster an awareness of the environment and its people, and instil a passion for lifelong learning in young minds. By utilising this innovative approach, Avvai Home Primary School strives to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that encourages students to develop essential skills, including numeracy and language proficiency.
The program was inaugurated on Aug.2 by Sugalchand Jain, Chairman of Avvai Home and Orphanage for Girls. Avvai Home and Orphanage for Girls was represented by Susheela Viswanathan – Correspondent and Secretary, parents, teachers and students. CorroHealth team was represented by its Senior Vice Presidents and Grass Root Foundation Trust team had their Managing Trustee and Advisory Board.
