Sashwat Suraj, a Grade 5 student at Chettinad Harishree Vidyalayam, has achieved an impressive feat by successfully completing the IronKid Triathlon in Da Nang, Vietnam, on May 10. This international youth event, designed for children aged 5-10, challenged participants with an 80m sea swim, 3km cycling, and 1km running, fostering perseverance, discipline, and healthy competition.
Sashwat, a resident of Venkateshwara Nagar, Kottivakkam, dedicated three months to rigorous training, skillfully balancing his schoolwork with his athletic preparation. Beyond his triathlon success, Sashwat is an avid reader, a competitive swimmer, a practitioner of Kalaripayattu, and a talented musician who plays both the keyboard and guitar.

Proud mother, Sneha Vijayan, shared, “We’re incredibly proud of his commitment and would love for this accomplishment to inspire his peers.”
Sashwat competed alongside over 500 international participants in his age category, crossing the finish line in an impressive 32 minutes and 52 seconds. Reflecting on his experience, Sashwat shared, “It was tough, but I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the event and crossing the finish line felt amazing!”
This extraordinary experience has provided Sashwat with a valuable lesson in goal-setting, an achievement his family hopes will motivate other young students.
