Probus Club of Chennai, a senior citizens’ organisation, elect new president and office bearers once in two years. The new President, Dr.K.Panchalan, Retd. Registrar – IIT-Madras, has been installed along with new office bearers and committee members, on June 24, at Russian House.

Rotarian Jayashree Sridhar – President Rotary Club of Madras, Gennadiy Rogalev – Vice-Consul and Director of Russian Cultural Centre, Rajasekaran – President of Federation of Senior Citizens’ Associations of Tamilnadu (FOSCATAN), Edwin Babu – State Head of HelpAge India, Kalaimamani Kizhambur Sankarasubramanian – Editor of Kalaimagal and Kalaimamani Ervadi Radhakrishnan of Kavithalaya Uravu were the guests of honour.

President and office bearers of Probus Club of Cheyyaru also participated and honoured the new President and office bearers of Probus Club of Chennai.

Outgoing President B Ranganathan pinned the lapel pin to the new President Dr.K.Panchalan, who in turn pinned the past president lapel pin to B Ranganathan. Past President R.T.Namasivayam garlanded the Probus insignia to the new President.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
