NIEPMD in collaboration with IIT Madras also organised a 3-days international conference – Empower 2023 (CRE Accredited by Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi) from Oct.5 – 7, at IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai.
This CRE programme was conducted to strengthen the expertise and experience of the professionals to render the best possible services towards empowering persons with disabilities. Eminent speakers in the field of assistive devices and disabilities were invited from different countries for this conference. Around 530 participants from different countries have participated in this conference; in that, 68 are RCI Registered Professionals.
President of IIT Madras Research Park and Incubation Cell – Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Kanthari’s co-founder – Sabriye Tenberken, Programme Director of Saksham – Nirmita Narasimhan, Google’s India accessibility lead – Ajit Narayan, Professor at University of Birmingham, Volker Sorge were present at the event. The coordinator of this programme was Dr.S.Santhosh Kanna, Lecturer, Physiotherapy, NIEPMD.
