Patrician College hosts workshop on Silk Mark label

The Citizen Consumer Club of Patrician College of Arts and Science, in association with the Silk Mark Organization of India (SMOI) organised a workshop on Silk Mark Label and Silk Mark Products on July 19 in the college premises.

The chief guest of the event K.H.Hemashree, Assistant Secretary – Central Silk Board (SMOI), highlighted the legacy of silk. The event was graced by Director and Secretary Br. F.Naveen, Academic Director Dr. Fatima Vasanth, Principal Dr. Arokiamary Geetha Rufus and Vice Principal Dr. B Anandapriya.

The workshop focused on the Indian Silk which has a global appeal, inducing the soul and the warmth of the Indian Culture. The Silk Mark Organization also highlighted that they are the world’s first and the only label assuring the purity of the silks. The recent add-on is that the consumer can now check the purity of the silk by just scanning the QR Code on the new Silk Mark Label. The variety of silks used for weaving cloth was discussed apart from clarification on the purity of silk, how to preserve silk for utmost stability etc.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
