Sand art campaign highlights ocean pollution
Share on WhatsappShare on Facebook

The School of Architecture and Interior Design at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur campus, hosted a Sand Art Campaign at Elliot’s Beach to raise awareness about ocean pollution and environmental sustainability.

The public event brought together students and faculty who transformed sand into compelling sculptures that spotlighted the alarming effects of marine pollution. Each creation served as a visual narrative, urging viewers to reflect on the damage caused by human activity and the pressing need for sustainable practices.

“This is more than just sand art—it’s a powerful cry from the shore,” said the organisers, emphasising the campaign’s mission to foster environmental consciousness.

The event was open to all, encouraging onlookers to engage in conversation about protecting oceans and freshwater ecosystems. By choosing a public, accessible space like the beach, SRMIST aimed to make the message resonate widely, from casual passersby to committed environmental advocates.

As waves brushed past the sculptures, the message was clear: the balance between human progress and nature is delicate, and immediate action is vital. SRMIST’s campaign is a call to awareness, responsibility, and collective action for a cleaner planet.
