Besant Nagar Club won the first RWD Open title, beating Madras Cricket Club 3-2 in the finals, played at the SDAT Tennis Stadium on Friday. The winner of a tie is determined based on the number of games each team wins, and remarkably, both teams won 50 games across the five matches. However, by virtue of winning three matches, Besant Nagar Club clinched the title.

TNTA president Vijay Amritraj and W.S.Habib gave away the RWD Rolling trophy and a cheque of Rs.1 lakh to the winners in the presence of TNTA Honorary Treasurer Vivek Reddy and Joint Secretary B.Venkatesh. The runner-up received Rs.50,000 while the semifinalists received Rs.25,000 each.
