Trio of IIT Madras Professors Win Nation’s Top Science Award

IIT Madras is celebrating a major win after three professors were selected for the ‘Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025,’ the nation’s highest recognition for contributions in science and technology.

Prof. Thalappil Pradeep (Chemistry), receiving the Vigyan Shri, for his globally-recognised work in affordable clean water technologies.

Prof. Mohanasankar Sivaprakasam (Electrical Engineering), receiving the Vigyan Yuva – SSB, for developing affordable healthcare technologies and leading the Brain Centre’s work on 3D human brain mapping

Prof. Shweta Prem Agrawal (Computer Science and Engineering), also received the Vigyan Yuva – SSB for her pioneering research in post-quantum cryptography and secure Machine Learning.

Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, stated the awards affirm the Institute’s commitment to advancing science for national development. The professors expressed gratitude, emphasising the vital support from students, funding agencies, and the country for their impactful, cutting-edge research.

Adyar Times was established in Chennai in the year 1993, founded by Mr.S.P.Ambrose, IAS (Retd.). The concept of a newspaper for the neighbourhood was a novel idea then. The English weekly (Sunday) now boasts a circulation of 42000 copies with an average of 16 pages per issue.
